Hello, I've recently begun to find my dads biological family. He passed in 2019 so I've been carrying on the search for him. I have found out that Rose A McIntyre from Mayo is my great-grandmother. They eventually moved to Antrim but I still have a lot of missing pieces. Anyways, I'm just happy to be here, to meet others and to learn more about this beautiful Ireland.

My Great great grandmother was Mary Brabender Mcintyre she married William Vance and resided in Dumbartonshire, her parents were Archibald Mcintyre and Margaret McGibbon who resided in Target, Arrochar.
Here's were I need some help the next generation up was Archibald Mcintyre and Janet Campbell, Archibald's parents were Archibald mcintyre and Katherine Mcfarlane.
This is were i am lost has any members got any information regarding either Janet Campbell or Katherine Mcfarlane as I can't find any records for either both resided in Target, Arrochar in Dumbartonshire.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Seardching for Mary McIntyre, (.1798--1878). from Tyrone county. Can't finid her parents, but posssible brothers, Robert and Andrew. Researching them, there is no record of their parents,

My family roots lead me to Kilcar, County Donegal Ireland. Philip McIntyre (1640-1739) His son Thomas (1687-1760) and he lived and died in County Donegal.
The grandson Charles Alexander was born there in 1724 and died in Enterprise, Wirt, West Virginia on October 21 1783. I have been unable to document a source or find anything about the roots to my family tree. Please help..

My Grandmother is a McIntyre. Her father is Fernando born in Charleston, Main 26 Aug 1846 his father was Philip born in Orlando, ME 1797 and his father was William born in Springfield, MA USA 1758. I thought we were Scottish but now I think we came from Ireland. I did a DNA on "23 and me" and I am 27% Irish and 25% British. No Scottish blood in me. Can anyone help me trace my family back to the old country?

Anthony Barrett, how wonderful to have come across your information on the origins of McIntyre. I recently had my DNA done and found I have 3% Norway and knew straight away this had to be with the McIntyre side of my family. I knew from many years ago, long before I started the family tree, that my family in Co. Antrim had come from Argyll and we were related to an Earl of Argyll (my Gt Uncle said Duke), so yesterday (11/08/19), a-googling I went and sure enough, came across a number of sites regarding the origins of McIntyre (MacIntyre) in Kintyre, Argyll and Bute. I narrowed it down that McIntyre's must have come from Sleat on the Isle of Skye as the MacDonalds there had Clan McIntyre in their records. BUT, I did mention to my father and his sisters that it made me wonder though if we had originally come across from Northern Ireland (as we know it today) before settling at Glen Noe, then returning to Co. Antrim where the McIntyre's have been since with an exception - my Gt Grandfather with wife and two sons (one being my Grandfather) emigrated to NZ, but relatives still alive and kicking in Co. Antrim.
You have answered my question and I thank you very much for sharing the information. I had read about the DNA marker being found in McDougalls, and MacDonalds of which the McIntyres of Glen Noe were associated with. And, just a few minutes ago, found your book on-line! I shall be getting that!

My MCs were in Offaly near Banagher for about 250 years before moving to Dublin and Australia during the famine. There are many McIntyres probably from my family still there.
Before then they probably came down from Tyrone and prior to that the DNA trail suggests Donegal.

The McIntyre story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup A1] can trace their origins to the Finn Valley in Donegal, Ireland from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The McIntyre surname origin is from a Northern Ui Neill [R1b-L513] tribe. The Cenรฉl Eoghan and the tribes of Donegal conquered much of Ulster (Derry and Tyrone).

I had recently discovered that my grandmother on my mother side was called Mary McIntyre before she got married to my grandfather but she had lived in Cloonkeen Dunmore Tuam Co. Galway so I been search into her family so I been able to trace back to James McEntyre is my great great great grandfather
